Charles Zappala is a leading Pittsburgh entrepreneur with expertise in investment banking and real estate development. Charles Zappala serves as the chairman of SUMMA Group, LLC, an investment and development company focused on energy - especially energy efficiency, renewable power, and clean air technologies including direct air capture - and commercial real estate. Mr. Zappala has also co-developed retail shopping centers in Maryland and Ohio, office buildings in Indiana and Telluride, Colorado, and mixed-use properties in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains and Massachusetts.
Mr. Zappala has served on a number of civic and charitable boards, including the Allegheny County Regional Asset District, Manchester Craftsmen's Guild, Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission, University of Pittsburgh Board of Trustees, and National Energy Education Development (NEED).
